Jessica & Shaun came into my mother’s (Florals By Isabelle) life three years ago when they hired her to design and create their floral arrangements for their wedding. She could not stop talking about them and this wouldn’t change for the next three years. Both Jessica & Shaun have been so supportive of my mother’s work, regularly referring new clients to her and always shouting her praise. My mother’s way of giving back was hiring me to photograph their beautiful and growing family. After connecting us, and a bit of planning, we ultimately decided that an in-home portrait session was in order.
As soon as I arrived and took my little stroll about the house, I was immediately excited and my little brain got to work. I felt so calm and so at home, it was so peaceful capturing the very much alert and curious Elan while big-brother Ben took his nap.
Always looking for the best light, but always staying true to my subjects and making sure that I work with intent and preserving who they are as a family.
I was so very pleased to hear how happy they were with the experience and described my energy as being zen-like. I think that when you absolutely love what you do, you tap into a different level of peace and calm. This clears my mind from all distractions and allows me to be present in my work, giving me a sense of liberty and empowerment as an artist.
